The PSC’s decision is a compromise to AT&T’e request that it no longer deliver the phone bookxsto customers. AT&T Florida told the PSC that eliminatin g the automatic distribution of the residential white pagesis “an environmentallyh green endeavor and a cost savingy measure” and that providing a papeer copy of the directorgy is “an inefficient use of resourcez in these touch economic times.” But commissionerx also were worried about how it mighy impact customers’ ability to access information, said PSC Spokeswoman Kirsteb Olsen.
Instead of doing away with the rule commissioners agreed to give it atrial run, durinvg which time it will gather customert feedback. “Today’s decision allows the PSC to asses the practicality of discontinuing printed residential directory delivery, while continuing to provide directories to customerxs who want a copy,” PSC Chairman Mattheew M. Carter II said in a news release.
