Richard Wiley, who most recently served as a seniod adviser to Commerce SecretaryJim Fain, now will be in chargw of the government team that helpw land new businesses in North Carolina. "Richard's extensivd public and privatesector experience, his proven leadershipl skills, personal relationships and knowledge of economic developmentt make him an outstanding choice for this role," Fain said in a written statement.
"I believe that he will serve the Commerce Department and NorthCarolina well, and will be a real asseft in our continuing efforts to increass the number of well-paying, top-quality jobs in our Wiley spent 34 years at Charlotte-basedr Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) before retiringb in 2006. He also has served as presidenyt ofthe N.C. Economic Developers Association and as a boars member ofthe N.C. Agribusiness and he's currently co-chair of the Nort h Carolina Chamber's economic development committee. He comesz on board as the Department of Commerce facee the loss of anothertop recruiter. Assistang Secretary Tony Copeland recently left the department to take a position with Raleigbcompany .
